Clinic consultation

Legal aid holding a free telephone clinic

Legal Aid plans to hold a free phone clinic for residents of the Eight Counties District from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The district includes Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Rush and Shelby counties.

Registration is required by calling 812-378-0358 between noon and 2 p.m. that day. The clinics are aimed at low-income residents.

The program uses local volunteer lawyers offering free legal consultations to low-income people for the provision of legal advice and assistance in promoting equal access to justice within the community who otherwise would not could not afford the advice of a lawyer.

Those who call the clinic can expect to receive a 10-minute consultation to answer general questions, including housing/eviction questions, offer legal information, or receive other limited pro se assistance or advice .

The next clinic will take place on April 26 with the same registration conditions and the same calendar.
