The Grand Island Golden Age Center at 3278 Whitehaven Road will host a flu shot clinic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11. The clinic is “a community event open to the public right here on Grand Island,” said Jen Menter, the center’s recreation manager. Flu shots will be administered by Walgreen employees.
The vaccine administered is “the high-dose flu vaccine that is available to anyone here in our community,” Menter said. She added that she hopes to have the bivalent coronavirus booster “which has just been approved by the FDA.”
The booster is currently unavailable because, “as fast as the booster is introduced, it goes,” Menter said. “If I can get this booster shot, I will let everyone know as soon as possible by getting this information out to the public. Hopefully we can get the COVID booster that just got FDA approved.
People who wish to get a flu shot are asked to call the center at 716-773-9682 to schedule an appointment. “All you need to do is make sure you bring your ID, health insurance card, and health insurance card, if you have one, to complete the necessary paperwork before you go. get your flu shot,” Menter said, adding, “Pop and make sure you get your flu shot to protect yourself this flu season.
