GRAND ISLAND, Neb . – Construction is about to begin for the new CHI Health Clinic on Grand Island.

The clinic is scheduled to open in the spring of 2024 and will include 54 patient exam rooms and space for up to 31 providers. The project is estimated at $15 million and will provide family and specialty care to an underserved area of the city.

The clinic’s new location is significant to CHI Health St. Francis President Ed Hannon. This is a pivotal location where he will reach the north side of Grand Island.

“As we look at our mission as Chi health, we always try to provide services to the whole community but above all to the most vulnerable, to those who are underserved and when we did studies on Grand Island, we saw all the healthcare professionals being in the center of town and to the south, so the northern part of Grand Island really becomes a healthcare wasteland”

CHI officials say the facility will not only benefit the community here, but also the state of Nebraska and surrounding states. For Dr. Shane Burr, the new facility is something they have been planning for a long time.

“I’m really excited because I think it’s going to be a beautiful setup based on the initial designs I’ve seen and it’s going to be so nice to be in a multi-specialty group practice where we can walk down the hall and talk with each other”

Some of the services that the new clinic will offer are primary care, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, virtual care, and drive-in care.
