A telemedicine start-up will open its first retail clinic

Healthcare startup Kiira Health is launching its first physical location in Los Angeles alongside a mobile clinic initiative that will allow the company to provide services to underserved communities.

The physical location is slated to open next month at 7225 Melrose Ave. and will offer services such as gynecology, primary care, mental health and other wellness services. The location will be complemented by a mobile clinic initiative that will focus on communities with limited access to health services.

The in-person services mark an important step in the evolution of Kiira as a company, which first provided care as a telemedicine service through its mobile app, where users could consult with doctors and therapists 24 hours a day. /24 and 7/7.
Kiira said she is focused on meeting the medical needs of young, multicultural women and encouraging them to be proactive in managing their health. The company launched the app for colleges and universities in California and New York last year.

The clinic comes after Kiira closed a $4 million seed funding round last December. The round was led by 500 Global and Forum VC and featured participation from the California Healthcare Foundation and Serena Ventures, a venture capital firm founded by tennis star Serena Williams.

“After assessing the healthcare market, it became clear to us that young women are deeply underserved by our existing healthcare infrastructure. We believe Kiira has the potential to become a leader in women’s health,” said Michael Cardamone, CEO and Managing Partner of Forum, in a statement.

“We designed Kiira Connected Care, a model of care that gives people more choice and establishes comprehensive, personalized and truly interconnected workflows for patients to support a combination of telehealth and appointments. you in person,” Kiira chief executive Crystal Adesanya said in a statement.
The flagship location will serve as a model for future Kiira locations, according to the company.
