At Amazon, we want to make it significantly easier for people to get and stay healthy. We started this journey with Amazon Pharmacy, where customers can easily have their medication delivered to their doorstep, in just two days for Prime members. We also entered into an agreement to acquire One Medical, a human-centered, technology-powered primary care provider. One Medical members benefit from a dedicated relationship with their provider, a friendly and convenient in-office experience, and ongoing engagement through a dedicated app.

Amazon Pharmacy and A medical (once the transaction is complete) are two key ways we use to make care more convenient and accessible. But we also know that sometimes you just need a quick interaction with a clinician for a common health issue that can be easily resolved virtually. We also thought about how to improve this part of the experience. That’s why today we’re introducing Amazon Clinic, a message-based virtual care service that connects customers with affordable virtual care options when and how they need it – at home, after dinner, at home. groceries or on the go – for over 20 common health conditions, such as allergies, acne and hair loss.

We believe there is a need to improve both the occasional and ongoing engagement experience to dramatically improve care. We also believe that clients should have the agency to choose what works best for them. Amazon Clinic is just one of the ways we work to empower people to take control of their health by providing access to convenient, affordable care in partnership with trusted providers. Our new healthcare store allows customers to choose from a network of leading telehealth providers based on their preferences. Every telehealth provider on Amazon Clinic has undergone rigorous clinical quality and customer experience evaluations by Amazon’s clinical leadership team.

Amazon Clinic is simple and easy to use. To begin, customers select their condition and then choose their preferred provider from a list of licensed and qualified telehealth providers. Then they complete a short admission questionnaire. Clients and clinicians then connect directly through a secure message-based portal, giving clients the flexibility to message their clinician when it’s most convenient for them, anytime, anywhere. Following the message consultation, the clinician will send a personalized treatment plan through the portal, including all necessary prescriptions to the client’s preferred pharmacy.

Virtual care isn’t right for every problem – and if we think it is, we’ll let you know upfront, before you connect with a provider. Our goal is to ensure that you receive the care that is right for you.

For clients, the cost of consultations varies by provider and includes ongoing follow-up messages with their clinician for up to two weeks after the initial consultation. Amazon Clinic does not yet accept insurance. If a prescription is part of the treatment, Amazon Clinic customers can select any pharmacy to fill it, including Amazon Pharmacy, Amazon’s full-service online pharmacy that offers 24/7 access to pharmacists and fast, free delivery of prescription drugs. Similar to a traditional doctor’s visit, the cost of any prescribed medication is not included in the cost of the visit, but clients can use their insurance to pay for the medication.

  • What conditions will Amazon Clinic treat?

    Amazon Clinic will focus on common conditions that are effectively treated using virtual care, including: acne, asthma fillers, birth control, cold sores, conjunctivitis, dandruff, eczema, erectile dysfunction, eyelash growth, genital herpes, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), hyperlipidemia refills, hypertension refills, hypothyroidism refills, male pattern hair loss, migraines, mal transportation, rosacea, seasonal allergies, sinusitis, smoking cessation, urinary tract infections (UTIs) and yeast infections. Over time, we will continue to work to offer Amazon Clinic support for other conditions.

  • How will Amazon Clinic use my health information?

    We care deeply about customer privacy and data security. We have extensive experience in the proper protection of data of all kinds in various businesses and remain focused on the important mission of protecting customer health information. We have strict privacy policies for our customers and comply with HIPAA and all other applicable laws and regulations.

  • How do clients pay for treatments? How much does it cost? Do you accept insurance?

    When clients seek treatment, they will be able to see how much a consultation will cost and when they can contact the provider. These prices are set by the vendors, not by Amazon Clinic. Consultations include ongoing follow-up messages for clients with their clinician for up to two weeks after the initial consultation. In many cases, the cost of care is equivalent to or less than the average copayment. At this time, Amazon Clinic does not accept insurance, but is eligible for FSA and HSA. Customers can use their insurance for any prescription drug costs resulting from their visit to the Amazon clinic.
