The BlockParty Vaccination Clinic began with the goal of vaccinating frontline West Hollywood workers in the Rainbow District who did not yet have access to monkeypox and the updated COVID-19 variant. Larry Block, publisher of WEHOville and owner of BlockParty, has reached an agreement with Elements Pharmacy to administer the injections inside the West Hollywood store.
The first clinic took place on September 8, 9 and 10 and was a great success. Britney Cooper of Elements Pharmacy reported that 168 patients were vaccinated at the BlockParty store during the three-day period in September. The new dates will allow anyone who had vaccinations a month ago to get their second vaccination in a timely manner.
At the time of the first event, BlockParty was the only independent company providing free vaccinations to West Hollywood residents and frontline workers.
During last week’s city council meeting, not a single member of council acknowledged the effort.
“City Hall has a policy of exclusion and division towards me, my store and this publication and there is nothing they can do, including the city manager,” said Block, who is also publisher of WEHOville.
Patients who were vaccinated received gift bags containing a bottle or water, a rainbow flag, candies, and a free fountain drink with any slice ordered from z-pizza.
