Class details

This virtual series is an alternative solution for those who have tried other chronic pain remedies. Learn tools you can use to manage your chronic pain, such as simple standing and sitting exercises, and education. Get support from others who also suffer from chronic pain. A different topic related to chronic pain will be discussed each week and materials will be mailed to your home.

The group runs from July 14 to September 22 on Thursdays. It is led by an occupational therapist and a physical therapist who specializes in education and exercise for people with chronic pain. The group is open to community members in the Southwest Wisconsin region of the Mayo Clinic Health System.

Consult your healthcare professional before beginning an exercise program if you have any concerns about your ability to participate safely.

Do not attend this course if you have any of these conditions:

  • High blood pressure, diabetes, or uncontrolled heartbeat (arrhythmia)
  • Difficulty breathing
  • New neurological symptoms that you have not discussed with your doctor (eg, dizziness, blurred vision, change in taste/smell)

If you have one of these conditions, but your symptoms are well controlled with medication or inhalers and your provider has cleared you to exercise, you are safe to participate.
