Construction begins on new Bellingham Women’s Health Clinic

PeaceHealth has opened a new women’s health clinic near its Bellingham hospital.

The two-story, 17,000 square foot building will be located at 220 Birchwood Avenue between Cornwall Park and Bug Lake. According to a press release, the building should be ready by summer 2023, offering a variety of services, including routine and high-risk obstetrics, gynecological procedures, a lactation program as well as imaging. and laboratory work.

Direct abortion services are not performed at any PeaceHealth facility.

“With respect to other women’s health services, PeaceHealth relies on the relationship between a patient and her provider to determine what constitutes medically appropriate care,” said Beverly Mayhew, senior director of marketing and communications for the PeaceHealth Northwest Network, in an email.

Proximity to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center means easy access for the center’s providers, which include three nurse practitioners, six certified nurse midwives and 13 physicians who need more space to provide services.

“We are thrilled to finally be at the construction stage of our new OB/GYN clinic.” said Misty Parris, vice president of operations for PeaceHealth Medical Group, in the press release. “Clinicians, caregivers and patients, along with representatives from many other support services, have volunteered their time to help develop what we believe is a wonderful space for women to receive care.

The building was designed by PKA Architects, a Portland, Oregon firm specializing in healthcare facilities. Cushman Wakefield will manage the project and Exxel Pacific of Bellingham is the general contractor.
