Death after liposuction surgery: clinic calls for calm as investigation continues

NNN: A cosmetic clinic in Lagos, Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, has appealed for calm and patience as the inquest continues into the death of its client, Christabel Gabriel, a Port-Harcourt-based socialite.

Dr Ogbe Omoruyi, a consultant plastic surgeon at the clinic, made the call as he spoke with reporters in Lagos.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that Christabel Gabriel died in hospital after a successful liposuction operation.

Reactions continued to follow his disappearance.

Omoruyi said he submitted himself to police, health facility oversight, accrediting agency and Lagos state blood services, for investigation as a respectful citizen of laws accused of the death of his client four days after his operation.

He said agency representatives had already visited the facility for extensive information gathering, as planned, with CCTV footage available.

“It is on a very sad note that I comment on the passing of our dear client on May 31, 2022.

“While I will be careful not to reveal details of our client’s medical information and history, it has also become necessary for me to address some of the unfounded innuendo, misinformation and accusations circulating following her death.

“It is unfortunate that while the family of the deceased is in mourning, some people persist in accusing me and questioning my professional qualifications in the care of my client who is now deceased.
