Genesee Health Plan to host drive-through vaccination clinic for COVID-19 vaccine

FLINT TWP, MI – Genesee Health Plan continues its efforts to combat COVID-19 in Genesee County.

GHP is hosting a drive-through vaccination event from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, April 21 at their office location at 2171 S. Linden Road in Flint Township.

COVID-19 vaccines will be provided directly to community members seated in their vehicles.

Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines for ages 12 and older, including third-dose vaccines and boosters, will be options provided.

An adult sign language interpreter will also be available for deaf and hard of hearing assistants.

This week Data reports that 52.6% of Flint residents are vaccinated, compared to the CDC’s recommendation of at least 70% vaccination rates to effectively work toward the goal of herd immunity.

Local COVID-19 Positive Numbers, Flint Averaged 28 new confirmed cases per day and maintains a “medium” level of risk for the community as a whole.

Currently, Flint hospitals report having 159 adult intensive care unit beds and only three are currently occupied by COVID patients.

In February, local hospitals were facing crippling COVID-19 numbers, totaling 236.8 daily positive cases per 100,000, compared to 6.8 current new cases per 100,000.

Current recommendations for Genesee County are to wear a mask if you have recently been exposed to or infected with COVID or have been told by a healthcare professional to wear a mask based on personal risk factors.

The drive-thru vaccination event will also feature additional offers, including:

-Free Mask

– Free COVID-19 home test for children

-Free Naloxone kits with training

-Health Care Enrollment Resources

Recommended safety guidelines for COVID-19 will be followed and masks/coverings will be required for all attendants.

The GHP event is made possible through local partnerships with the Genesee Community Health Center and the Genesee County Influenza Immunization Education Partnership.
