KANSAS CITY, Kan. – A new veterans health clinic opens Friday in Wyandotte County.
The Veterans Affairs Clinic is on Parallel Parkway, a major transit route that makes it easier for anyone in Wyandotte County to find it.
The new location is closer to the Legends shopping district and the Kansas Speedway, where much of the population growth is occurring.
The senior member of the US Senate Veterans Affairs Committee says it’s important to put veterans services close to the people who need them.
“Distance matters in Kansas,” said U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kansas. “The distance can be physical. A long way to go, certainly in the part of Kansas where I come from, we have been through this. Veterans have difficulty getting to where there are VA facilities. Here in Wyandotte County, the distance may be public transportation. The inability to have a car, just the ability to get people where they need to be.
At this VA clinic, veterans will be able to receive primary care, lab work, pharmacy teleconsultations, virtual care, and behavioral health services.
The clinic will also soon add physiotherapy, chiropractic care and acupuncture.
