MU Health plans clinic in County Audrain to ‘increase patient access’

Following a suspension of services by Noble Health, MU Health Care has announced that it will open a family medicine and urgent care clinic later this summer in Mexico.

The new facility, located at 3626 S. Clark St., will provide a convenient and cost-effective option for adults and children in need of urgent but not life-threatening medical care, said Dr. Matthew Robinson, president of the emergency medicine from MU Health. Friday press release.

“This location will increase patient access to care and feature MU Health Care’s emergency medicine providers to provide care seven days a week,” Robinson said.

In March, Noble Health announced it was suspending services at Audrain Community Hospital and Callaway Community Hospital “in order to restructure their operations and become financially sustainable.”

MU Health leaders have begun working with Noble Health to ensure access to medical care, according to the MU Health statement.

Dr. Michael LeFevre, chair of the department of family and community medicine at the MU School of Medicine and a physician at MU Health, said the goal was to maintain local access to quality health care.

“Our new family medicine clinic in County Audrain will continue to help us fulfill our mission, ensuring that the citizens of this community receive expert care from physicians they know and trust,” said LeFevre.

The new location will feature Dr. Diane Jacobi, formerly a family practice provider at Noble Health Audrain Community Hospital, and nurse practitioner Regina Hill. Other former providers, nurses and support staff will also join the team.

The new facility will allow healthcare providers to connect patients to the university’s healthcare network, including more than 600 physicians in more than 80 specialties, Jacobi said in the release.

“Primary care is extremely important to this region, and I am thrilled to be able to continue to serve my patients right here in County Audrain,” Jacobi said.
