The Oswego County Health Department has announced its immunization clinic schedule for August, which includes expanded hours for back-to-school immunizations. These clinics will offer the required vaccination panel for children entering kindergarten as well as vaccines and boosters for older students, and pediatric and adult vaccinations against COVID-19.
“These clinics offer all required school vaccinations for children in addition to COVID-19 vaccines,” said Vera Dunsmoor, acting director of public health for Oswego County. “As many primary care providers are already booked for the fall, this is another opportunity for parents to get their children vaccinated.”
Immunization clinics are held at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic, 70 Bunner St., Oswego. Staff administer general vaccinations for children and adults, including COVID-19 vaccines, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Tuesday. Appointments are required.
On Wednesday, August 10, the health department is offering a dedicated COVID-19 vaccination clinic from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Both Moderna and Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available for ages 18 and older. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be available for people aged 6 months and older. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins will be accepted.
Anna Reitz, Senior Public Health Nurse for Oswego County, said, “We are extending our clinic hours to help working parents get their children vaccinated before the new school year begins. We will include evening appointments on Tuesday August 23 and 30 and offer an additional morning clinic on Saturday August 27.
