UCI Law Startup and Small Business Clinic and UCI ANTrepreneur Center collaborate on projects

The UCI Law Startup and Small Business Clinic and the UCI ANTrepreneur Center have joined forces. The SSBC was created in 2018 to provide local business owners and entrepreneurs in Orange County with access to legal information. UCI law students engage in a variety of legal challenges related to startups and small businesses, including matters relating to business formation, contract negotiation, recruitment, and more. under the direction of SSBC Director Daniel J. Alexander II.

“Through this partnership, we will be able to offer our students free legal help and advice that they might not otherwise have as startup founders. Students can feel secure knowing that they are laying a solid foundation for their business if they have access to reliable legal advice.

Ryan Foland, Director of the ANTrepreneur Centre, adds, “We are delighted to be cooperating with the SSBC and augmenting the vital services we provide to student entrepreneurs at UCI.

Alexander also highlights the benefits that legal advisors will bring to student entrepreneurs:

By creating a channel for ANTrepreneur Center students to use start-up legal tools and support, we want to end this. Through this connection, SSBC Associates also have access to exciting start-ups developed directly on campus and have the chance to gain experience working with a variety of clients.

“Founders may not prioritize the legal obligations that come with running a business and being an employer, as they often focus on fundraising, developing their products and marketing their products. Unfortunately, if these issues are not handled properly, the company and its founders can face a lot of liabilities, which would stunt the growth of the business before it even gets started.

Students will have access to legal office hours at the ANTrepreneur Center on Mondays from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. beginning in Week 1 of the Fall 2022 term. CampusGroups on the center’s ANTrepreneur website, students can also arrange one-on-one appointments with Alexander or an SSBC Associate.
