Walgreens joins forces with its partner health centers and clinics to expand access to free diabetes services during Diabetes Awareness Month

DEERFIELD, Illinois–()–During Diabetes Awareness Month, Walgreens is partnering with company Health Corners, Walgreens Medical Village and third-party clinics to offer free diabetes care servicesincluding education focused on management and prevention and free A1C and blood glucose testing, November 9-16.

Walgreens is committed to helping the diabetes community start and maintain an optimal diet and routine for healthy living as a trusted member of its healthcare team, providing enhanced services focused on broadening access to affordable local care. The company invests in special training to equip pharmacists with expert knowledge about medications, continuous blood glucose monitors, nutrition, how to keep A1C and blood sugar levels at a target level, and more. More than 20,000 pharmacists have taken this training to date.

The number of people with prediabetes and diabetes is growing at a rapid pace alarming rate. There are currently 96 million American adults who have prediabetes, or 1 in 3 adults. And more than 37 million Americans – about 1 in 10 – live with diabetes.1
