Wockhardt Hospital launches diabetes surgery clinic

According to the ICMR, over the past three decades, there has been a 150% increase in the number of diabetes patients in the country. Considering the increasing prevalence of diabetes in India, this clinic aims to provide better care and support to the patient by preventing complications related to diabetes.

Wockhardt Hospital launched the “Diabetes Surgery Clinic”. This clinic will provide preventive and therapeutic care in the treatment of diabetes.

According to the ICMR, over the past three decades, there has been a 150% increase in the number of diabetes patients in the country. Considering the increasing prevalence of diabetes in India, this clinic aims to provide better care and support to the patient by preventing complications related to diabetes.

Dr Ramen Goel, Consultant Diabetes Surgeon, Bariatric Center of Excellence, Wockhardt Hospital, Mumbai Center, who will be leading the clinic, said: “Looking at the ‘sugar pandemic’ that is rapidly spreading in our country, hospitals Wockhardt, Mumbai center have decided to launch the Diabetes Surgery Clinic.

“Diabetes is a silent killer with major complications like heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, blindness, etc. and is a progressive disease in which cure is unlikely with medication. However, after the diabetes surgery, about 65% of diabetic patients do not need medication, and more than 90% of patients have excellent diabetes control for a long time, not only is blood sugar controlled and medication is discontinued, but this surgery reduces the risk of diabetes complications by 50-90%,” he added.
